Thompson Plus

Patient will enjoy all of the benefits of our wellness the longevity program. The longevity program includes an initial comprehensive blood draw, done on-site, a history and physical examination, and DEXA lunar scan. Results will be reviewed, in detail, in a one hour consultation which will provide you an individualized hormone program, specific supplements, dietary and exercise recommendations tailored to assure you meet your desired goals.


Thompson Premier

Our "Concierge" program includes both previous tiers, in addition to a Carotid Intima-Media test, nutritional and exercise counseling, workout programs, and a two hour consultation with a physician age management specialist.  The "Concierge" program also gives access to a physician who will assist patients in any of their healthcare needs, twenty four hours a day, seven days a week.

Dr. Thompson's Healthy Living (aka. Age Management) Medicine involves a doctor-patient team utilizing medications, hormones, supplements, exercise and nutrition to promote a healthy body and mind to increase and improve our quantity and quality of life.

The first step in Dr. Thompson's Healthy Living Medicine is one of the most important....research. Dr. Thompson collects in depth information about a patient's health utilizing tests on genetics, blood, physical condition, and more. Dr. Thompson also gathers information about current lifestyle practices and daily stressors. The goal is to pinpoint what the patient is susceptible to or currently suffering from. With this information, Dr. Thompson sets up an intricate plan which to help the patient avoid illnesses or beat/reverse the condition damaging the patient's lifestyle and possibly shortening life span. DNA contains the instructions for building all parts of the body, but DNA is only half the story. The DNA in our body is spooled around proteins called histones, which package the cellular genome. Modification of the histones allows DNA to unwind and the instructions to be "read" and subsequently, the genes to be expressed. 

Both the DNA and histones are covered with chemical tags, a second layer of structure called the epigenome. It tightly wraps inactive genes, making them unreadable. It relaxes active genes making them easily accessible. The DNA code remains fixed for life, but the epigenome is flexible.

The epigenome adjusts specific genes in our genomic landscape in response to our rapidly changing environment. Thereby, expression of genes can be affected by various factors: lifestyle, nutrition, chemicals and stressors in the environment, as well as dynamics in internal processes and functions of the body.

Body composition by DXA the “gold standard”

Body composition scans with DXA provide precise and accurate data on tissue composition, including lean mass and fat mass. The measurements are fast and non invasive, routinely the scan is completed in 10 minutes or less. Scans provide both total body data and regional results.
Men and women tend to develop an increase in abdominal (android) fat.  Android fat is associated with an increased risk of heart disease, diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease.

Better than a scale

Accurate measurement of body composition provides valuable information for assessing and monitoring the progress of nutrition and exercise interventions. THE DXA is the only method that accurately determines how fat is distributed.
Monitoring weight is, at best, a crude and imprecise way to monitor progress. Other devices including scales, calipers, impedance devises and BMI are of little to no value.
Many people lose as much or more muscle than fat when trying to lose weight, especially if resistance training is not part of their routine. DXA can accurately determine the fat and muscle changes that occur with weight loss interventions allowing for modifications in nutrient ratios and exercise routines.

Bone Density
Ostenopenia (low bone density) and osteoporosis (very low bone density) increase the risk of fractures. Low bone density is not just a woman’s problem. Many men have low bone density as well. While hip fractures are not as common in men, the mortality after a hip fracture is roughly 20% compared to 7.5% in women.

Carotid Intima Media Thickness (CIMT)
CIMT is an FDA-approved noninvasive, advanced ultrasound evaluation of the carotid arteries. This evaluation allows for detection of any existing plaque, and provides for a precise measurement of the thickness of the artery wall. Thickening of the artery wall is a sign of developing vascular disease and is directly related to your risk of heart attack, not just stroke and erectile dysfunction. Exercise is an essential aspect of every patient's program, we expect each and every patient to participate albeit at different levels. The majority of patients we recommend a structured resistance program a minimum of 3 times a week, Average session length is 45 to 60 minutes. The sessions can be done at home or at a local gym, but trainers not mandatory but for many beginners it may be essential. After your initial evaluation will educate you on appropriate exercise programs, help you locate trainers in your area as well as different training programs. 

This program increases muscle mass, bone density, VO2 max and reduces body fat. At the same time we know that exercise decreases your incidents of cardiovascular disease, stroke, dementia and can even help stabilize blood sugar. We do not count calories here at the Thompson clinic instead we focus on the glycemic index of foods as well as the glycemic load. This allows us to abandon, measuring, weighing and lets us focus on the nutritional value of each individual from. If one were to label our diet would be an organic paleo-Mediterranean low glycemic nutrition plan. At the time of your initial evaluation lab values, percent body fat, lean muscle mass and resting metabolic ratewill be used to fine-tune your individual nutrition plan. We find that most nutrition plans fail due to lack of knowledge, poor decision-making and bad habits. By allowing you to make good choices and not restricting your intake we find that our patients feel satisfied and make great games that they have been struggling to attain for years.
